Friedrich Nietzsche Quotes About Life, Love, Dark, Existentialism, Philosophy, Happiness, Truth, Career & Nihilism! German philosopher, classical scholar, poet, and philologist Friedrich Nietzsche is one of the most prominent contemporary philosophers, best known for his works on religion, good and evil, and the conceptions of the “super-man” and “will to power.” Born on October 15, 1844, he studied classical philology before deciding to pursue the study of philosophy in 1876. To date, he has been recognized as being the University of Basel’s youngest-ever Classical Philology Chairholder, at 24 years old in 1869.
Throughout his work, Nietzsche has a penchant for aphorisms and sarcasm, whether in philosophical polemics, poetry, cultural critique, or fiction. The Übermensch and his notion of perpetual return are only two of his many increased knowledge that has influenced philosophers and theologians alike. To achieve new ideas and improved quality of life, he grew more concerned with the individual’s ability to break free from cultural and moral norms.
The next decade was a time of both solitude and discovery. Due to terrible pain and blindness, Nietzsche composed his most significant work, Spoke Zarathustra, and other works that inspired a generation of philosophers, authors, and psychologists to follow in his footsteps in biblical narrative form.
Nietzsche’s famous “God is lifeless” comment aroused controversy and praise. His teachings also included ideas on what it means to be successful, ambitious, and to want to be something other than what is traditionally considered good or bad. In 1889, at the age of 45, he had a mental breakdown and lost all of his abilities. The latter years of his life were spent in the care of his mother until she died in 1897, and then with his sister Elisabeth Förster-Nietzsche. He passed away in 1900.
