Morrison started the Doors in Venice, California, in 1965, alongside pianist Ray Manzarek, who was also a founding member. During his time working with the Doors, Jim Morrison released six studio albums, all commercial successes. His improvisational spoken word poetry sections as the band performed live were well-known.
