Lord Byron was one of the famous figures in the “Romantic Movement” and an English politician, poet, and nobleman. He continues to be a well-known and renowned poet. Byron was born on January 22, 1788, in Dover, England. To his education, he moved to London, where he attended Dulwich College in 1799 and Harrow College in 1801, two of England’s most renowned institutions of higher learning. From 1805 until 1808, he was a student at Trinity College, Cambridge University.
For his first collection of poetry, “Fugitive Pieces,” in 1806, an amateur publisher helped him put it out. ‘Hours of Idleness’ was released in 1807 and got poor reviews in ‘The Edinburgh Review. ‘English Bards and Scotch Reviewers’ was written in 1809 as a response to this and became a huge success.
The poem “The Corsair,” written by Lord Byron and first published in 1814, was an instant success, selling more than 10,000 copies on the very first day it was available to the public. Another of his most famous work named “Childe Harold’s Pilgrimage,” which he started writing in 1812 and didn’t finish until 1818.
His masterpiece was a poem titled “Don Juan,” which he began writing in 1818 and had the first two cantos published in 1819. He was only able to finish 16 of the cantos of the poem. He had begun the 17th canto, but he became unwell and passed away before he could finish it. On April 19, 1824, he died. In addition to his prolific works, he was well-known for his ongoing liaisons with men and women and his other aristocratic excesses. He was frequently labeled as infamous and flamboyant.
