Over his two decades in charge of the Los Angeles Dodgers, he was responsible for eight division championships. LaSorda was born in the small Pennsylvania hamlet of Norris-town in 1927. After spending the year 1946–1947 serving in the United States Army. Then Lasorda started his career in baseball as a pitcher in the minor leagues.
In 1948, when pitching for the Schenectady Blue Jays against the Amsterdam Rugmakers in a 15-inning game, he established a Canadian-American League record for the most strikeouts in a single game, striking out 25 hitters. After that, he was a member of the Boston Red Sox from 1958 to 1960 and the Brooklyn Dodgers from 1950 to 1955.
