Best William Blake Quotes
William Blake Quotes About Love, Imagination, Art, Friendship, Inspirational, Death & Poems! Author and artist William Blake is widely considered one of the most important figures of the Romantic era. His works throughout the years have affected numerous authors and artists. As a child, Blake was born on November 28, 1757, in the Soho neighborhood of London, England. His mother did most of his education at home, and he attended school very briefly. His life and art were infused with a deep spirituality thanks to the Bible, which significantly impacted Blake from an early age.
To begin sketching the human figure from plaster casts of old statues by the age of 10, Blake attended Henry Pars’ Drawing School, where he studied the human form by imitating the human condition from plaster casts of ancient sculptures. In 1779, at the age of 21, Blake finished his seven-year apprenticeship and began working for book and print companies as a copy engraver. When poet William Hayley invited Blake to his home in 1800, he accepted the offer. At the same time as Hayley and Blake’s romance was fading, Blake also was having personal problems of his own.
Blake started writing and illustrating Jerusalem (1804-20), his most significant work yet, in 1804. He also began exhibiting more of his career in exhibits, but these pieces were received with silence, and the one published critique was wildly negative. Because of the bad reviews and not enough attention his works were getting from people, Blake became more and more frustrated from trying to be a good artist. On August 12, 1827, he passed away. Blake’s imaginative approach to art and literature, although underappreciated during his lifetime, has since grown into a monster in literary and creative circles.
